a few scattered water related notions,,

solar water disinfection. 'SODIS' site has great info. sunlight, uv, 6 hrs kills most bad bugs.

AKVO: matching funds, ability, and expertise to projects, esp. water projects.

occurred to me that 'globovo' generators might work with SODIS -- re: a chat with Vinay, he had the idea of SODIS + pasteurization to be extra sure to kill bad bugs. Globovo could be hooked to small heating elements, left in bucket of ditch water. it's a sunny day , first of all, for SODIS to work at all. now the sun-powered globovo balloons are generating current for heating elements to increase water temp. you got clear bottles in a clear bucket gettng solar UV = SODIS, + you got increase bucket water temp from globovo elements = pasteurization.

practicals:
.temp control. Globovo is cheap, quick and dirty, but not esp. elegant. once we get into finding 'heating elements' to get into the earth's far places, the system becomes more fragile.
anybody got a heating elemetn hack for indigenous / extremely common materials? (I'm sure the info is out there).
.. are pasteurizing temps enough to cause PET/PETE bottles to off-gas into water?
